Virtual Productions

Since the pandemic emerged in 2020, Bluebird Theatre Company followed Broadway’s lead with closing in-person shows. Instead of allowing art to lay dormant, we decided to dive in to the world of Virtual Productions.

It was a great way to include the international ensemble and cultivate new works.

Here’s an archive of the live-streamed shows we’ve done since then.

She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms

Written by Qui Nguyen

Directed by Raelle Myrick-Hodges

Assistant Directed by Bar Silberstein

Performed by Bluebird Theatre Company Members & *Guest Artists

She Kills Monsters tells the story of Agnes Evans who on the 1st anniversary of the death of her 15-year-old sister Tilly, decides to investigate Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook in an effort to learn more about her. In the process Agnes stumbles into an online virtual game full of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and Gen Z pop culture, acclaimed young playwright Qui Nguyen has adapted his 2011 hit play She Kills Monsters into a virtual wonderland for the modern age that offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.
